Mick Hales was born in England and grew up in Pakistan and Nigeria. He studied photography at the London College of Printing and moved to New York in 1982. His first commissions in New York were for Francoise De La Renta at House and Garden. His excellence at catching the mood of an interior space, garden, product or situation has been proven through his published material; some 40 coffee table books and over 270 magazine articles. Over the years he has built up a substantial collection of gardens he has photographed, on both 4 by 5 transparency and also digital.

Mick lives in beautiful Manatee County, FL, with his wife Christine Simoneau Hales, a painter and iconographer. In the summer he works in the North East. He is also an ordained Christian minister through the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening, with an itinerant healing prayer ministry, and Chaplain with the International Fellowship of Chaplains.
